The Great Escape is the upcoming third studio album by rapper Joe Budden

Background

Joe Budden has stated that the album is actually the final piece of the four album concept, which includes Halfway House, Padded Room and Escape Route, as he finally finds salvation and freedom from a sense of confinement that had been pervading his life and career. The Great Escape is slated to be one of Joe Budden’s best efforts yet, and will feature several established producers and artists, which is a notable change from his usual formula.

On August 11, 2009, Amalgam Digital and Joe Budden released a digital-only album entitled Escape Route, the third piece of the four album concept. Joe Budden has said that Escape Route will give fans a taste of what to expect from him on his third studio effort.[2]

In September 2010, Joe Budden signed to E1 Music, so the album will not be released under Amalgam Digital.

Music

Joe has stated on his blog that he will be working with Jadakiss, Eminem, Fabolous, Lloyd Banks, Wale and Lloyd among others, and the production team J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Emile, Black Milk, Dark Night & 8 Bars, and Nottz with the bulk of production handled by J.Cardim and production team Sean C & LV.

On August 31, 2009, a potential single for the album named "No Competition" featuring R&B singer Emanny was leaked unto the internet. The song was produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. On January 29, 2010, Joe Budden released a now-scrapped track for the album named "Downfall" via his Twitter page. Budden stated that he and J.Cardim weren't able to clear a sample from the track, leading to the release and being scrapped from the album. The song was later released as a part of Mood Muzik 4.5

In August 2010, Joe Budden stated that hip-hop icon and legendary producer DJ Premier had a beat potentially for The Great Escape. On January 5, 2010, Joe Budden hinted via Twitter that legendary producer Havoc from the rap group Mobb Deep made a beat for The Great Escape. On January 21, 2011, it was announced that the first single to The Great Escape was to drop later that night entitled 'Tipsy'. The track features Emmany and Jay Towsend.
